The mid-size electric SUV will be the first model to feature Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language.
Skoda has announced that the all-new, all-electric Elroq will be revealed in October, according to CEO Klaus Zellmer via social media. While the exact date of the reveal is not yet disclosed, recent prototype drives have given us a closer look at this highly anticipated follow-up to the Skoda Enyaq.
The Elroq will be the first vehicle to showcase Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy, which was first previewed by the Vision 7S concept in 2022 and the Skoda Epiq concept earlier this year. This new design approach is expected to give the Elroq a robust appearance, with Skoda’s head of design, Oliver Stefani, noting that it sets a fresh and striking tone for the brand.
The teaser image of the mid-size electric SUV reveals a split headlight design that extends around the sides of the vehicle and Skoda lettering on the sharply contoured bonnet. The front features a blanked-off ‘Tech-Deck Face,’ which presents a broader and flatter take on the traditional Skoda grille design.
Additional details are limited, but Skoda has mentioned that the Elroq will include large wheel designs and matrix LED headlights.
For practicality, the 4.5-metre-long Elroq is designed with a spacious interior, offering a 470-litre boot and 48 litres of additional cabin storage. With the rear seats folded down, the total luggage capacity expands to 1,580 litres.
The Elroq will also include several of Skoda’s ‘Simply Clever’ features, including new additions like a storage net for charging cables and a QR code in the boot linking to instructional videos.
The Skoda Elroq is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, which is also used for the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe. There will be four versions of the Elroq:
- Elroq 50: Features a 55kWh battery and a 168bhp rear-mounted electric motor.
- Elroq 60: Upgraded with a 63kWh battery and a 201bhp e-motor.
- Elroq 85: Equipped with an 82kWh battery and a 282bhp e-motor, offering a claimed range of over 348 miles.
- Elroq 85x: Includes a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 295bhp.
Additionally, Skoda plans to introduce a high-performance Elroq vRS model in the future.
The Elroq is part of Skoda’s broader strategy to launch six new electric vehicles over the next few years, which will also include a seven-seater flagship, a production version of the Skoda Epiq, and an affordable entry-level EV.
