Pagani’s new Utopia Roadster, a follow-up to the Utopia flagship, features a removable roof while retaining its luxurious appeal.
The ultra-high-end supercar segment has a new contender with Pagani’s introduction of the Utopia Roadster. This convertible variant maintains the same extreme performance as the coupe, promising uncompromised handling and speed. The Utopia Roadster is priced from €3.1 million plus local taxes and will make its debut at Monterey Car Week in the US later this month.
Like the coupe, the Utopia Roadster showcases Pagani’s expertise in composite materials. It features the same advanced carbon fiber tub, which includes a unique blend of metallic and composite strands for enhanced strength and rigidity.
Despite the added weight of the convertible roof, Pagani reports that the Utopia Roadster weighs the same 1,280 kg as the coupe. The removable hardtop, which includes a transparent panel, allows for an open-air experience while providing some sun protection.
Under the engine cover, the Utopia Roadster houses the same AMG-built twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine, which, while based on AMG’s V12 design, is highly customized for Pagani. It delivers 851 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of torque, routed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed manual transmission developed with XTrac. A seven-speed semi-automatic transmission is also available for quicker gear changes.
The Utopia Roadster is equipped with Pagani’s electronically controlled limited-slip differential and a specialized stability and traction control system. As with all Pagani vehicles, every mechanical component is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, including the gold powder-coated suspension mounts that support an advanced active suspension system.
The Pagani Utopia Roadster features a staggered set of 21 and 22-inch forged alloy wheels, which can be fitted with optional carbon aero inserts to further enhance aerodynamics. These wheels are wrapped in the latest Pirelli ‘Cyber’ Trofeo RS tires, which provide real-time data on tire temperature and wear to the car’s computer system.
The exterior design of the Roadster closely resembles that of the coupe, with a nearly seamless transition to the open-top configuration. Each Utopia Roadster is custom-designed to the owner’s specifications, and the car to be unveiled in California will feature an exposed carbon fiber body with a deep red tint—a high-cost option expected to be priced in the hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Inside, the cabin maintains Pagani’s signature attention to detail, with multiple analog dials and physical switches replacing touchscreens. The steering wheel is crafted from a single 43 kg block of aluminum, reduced to just 1.6 kg, and adorned with switches and high-quality automotive leather.
A new Sport Package, available for both the coupe and Roadster, includes seats made from Pagani’s CarboTitanium material and a full titanium exhaust system. Additional components in CarboTitanium include the gear knob, paddles (where applicable), floor mats, front aerofoils, and the roof panel.
Pagani has not disclosed the production numbers for the Utopia Roadster, but it is anticipated to match the coupe’s limited run of 99 units. The brand is also expected to offer various special editions and bespoke commissions, continuing its tradition of exclusive, customized vehicles.
