The new Jeep Compass is scheduled to be revealed in November, with a planned launch set for 2025.

The next-generation Jeep Compass is expected to be a significant part of the company’s upcoming model lineup, contributing to the expansion of its zero-emission vehicle offerings.

Jeep is about to enter a significant transformation period, leveraging the technology and resources of its parent company, Stellantis. This transition will mark the introduction of a new generation of Jeep models, beginning in Europe with the all-new Jeep Compass.

According to Kris Cholmondeley, UK managing director, the new Compass is expected to be unveiled in November, with a market launch planned for 2025. This mid-size SUV will be available with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrains, aligning with Jeep’s ‘Freedom of Choice’ philosophy.

In an overview of the next 18 months, Cholmondeley highlighted the Wagoneer S and Recon as key upcoming models. He expressed particular excitement about the new Compass, emphasizing its importance for achieving Jeep’s market-share goals.

Under the leadership of CEO Antonio Filosa, Jeep’s strategy will include both electric and combustion powertrains, with various levels of off-road capability. However, every vehicle will retain its essential Jeep character, inspired by the iconic Wrangler.

The Compass will be the first model to debut this new phase in Europe, where it is highly popular. It will be built on the STLA-M platform, shared with the Peugeot E-3008 and Vauxhall Grandland. Despite sharing some dimensions with these models, the Compass will feature distinctive Jeep styling.

The new Compass is expected to have a boxier, more upright design compared to the current model, with potential options for a more rugged ‘Trail Rated’ version. The interior will feature new technology and design elements, possibly including a 16-inch widescreen display similar to the one in the Vauxhall Grandland.

The Compass will precede the launches of the electric Recon and the luxurious Wagoneer S, both arriving in late 2025 or early 2026. These models will be built on the larger STLA-L platform, with the Wagoneer S aiming to address previous issues with the Grand Cherokee in the UK market.

Following these, Jeep will introduce the next-generation Renegade, which will move to a more modern platform and feature a new design. The Renegade will complement the existing Avenger, which will soon offer a four-wheel-drive option alongside its current EV and mild-hybrid variants.

Meanwhile, the iconic Jeep Wrangler will remain a staple, available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain in Europe and a petrol engine in the UK. Future plans include a new Wrangler model that will offer both combustion and electric powertrains, continuing to uphold its status as the brand’s most capable off-road vehicle.

Q&A with Antonio Filosa, Jeep CEO

Jeep’s new CEO, Antonio Filosa, is not an American but an Italian with significant experience in the Stellantis group. He shares his vision for the brand’s future.

Q: How does it feel to lead such an iconic American brand from a European perspective?

A:“It’s a great honor to work with Jeep and engage with its dedicated community. Jeep is undergoing a major transition, embracing both electrification and globalization. While it’s deeply rooted in American culture and widely regarded as a symbol of American heritage, our goal is to position Jeep as a leading player in the global shift towards electric vehicles.”

Q: How do you reconcile Jeep’s image as a traditionally petrol-powered brand with the push towards electrification?**

A: “In Europe, Jeep sold around 130,000 vehicles, capturing about a 1% market share. Within the low-emission vehicle segment, we hold a 1.2% share, which is promising as we look towards the future. This indicates that Jeep is making inroads into the electrified market, and we’re committed to expanding this presence.”

Q: Why is Europe an important market for Jeep?

A: “Europe presents a significant opportunity for Jeep’s global expansion. The UK, in particular, is seeing a resurgence with Jeep models like the Avenger attracting a new customer base. The UK is now one of our top markets in Europe, second only to Italy.”

Q: How will you build on this momentum?

A: “Our strategy focuses on three main areas: regional specialization, maintaining flexibility with our powertrain options, and introducing new products, including updates to our current lineup.”

Q: How will you maintain Jeep’s character and identity?**

A: “Every Jeep model must excel in off-road capability within its segment. While not all Jeeps will have the extreme off-road performance of the Wrangler, each vehicle should embody the brand’s adventurous spirit and ruggedness.”

Q: What are the next steps for Jeep?

A: “The Wagoneer S will be our first global all-electric vehicle, and it will be the fastest Jeep ever, with some versions offering a range of over 600 km (378 miles). Initially, it will be available only as a BEV, but we plan to explore other powertrain options in the future. Following that, we are excited about the upcoming Recon model.”

Q: What is your vision for the Wrangler’s future?

A: “The Wrangler remains the heart of Jeep. It’s our most iconic model, representing Jeep’s core values. We rank our models on off-road capability, and the Wrangler 4xE currently scores a 10. With electrification, we aim to enhance this further, leveraging electric powertrains to create an even more capable Jeep. We believe that combining Jeep’s ruggedness with electric technology will resonate with our customers and meet the evolving expectations of the market.”
