The Peugeot 508 is being discontinued, along with the Peugeot Sport Engineered sub-brand.

The Peugeot 508 is set to be discontinued, with Peugeot confirming that production will end in December 2024 after six years on the market. This decision aligns with Peugeot’s strategy to focus more on electric vehicles, as the 508 was the only model in the lineup without an all-electric variant.

Peugeot will continue to offer the 508 in both saloon and 508 SW estate forms until the end of the year, but only in the plug-in hybrid GT trim. This move effectively concludes the Peugeot Sport Engineered (PSE) performance sub-brand, as no other Peugeot models were available with PSE trim.

The Peugeot 508 PSE made up only about five percent of total 508 sales and featured a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 335bhp.

Though the 508 is being phased out, Peugeot’s saloon offerings will continue in electric form. At the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, Peugeot unveiled the ‘Inception’ concept, built on Stellantis’ new STLA Large architecture. This concept features a 100kWh battery with an estimated range of around 497 miles.
