The current-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS, which holds the fourth spot on the Nürburgring lap time leaderboard, is already an impressive track machine. However, Porsche is aiming to enhance this model even further. We’ve spotted the facelifted 911 GT3 RS undergoing testing ahead of its anticipated debut later this year.
The updated 992-generation 911 (designated 992.2) was introduced in May 2024, marking the first time Porsche has incorporated hybrid technology into its iconic sports car. However, the updated 911 GT3 RS will continue to use the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine found in the current model, which produces 518bhp and 465Nm of torque, 14bhp more than the GT3.
We don’t expect significant power increases in the updated GT3 RS. Instead, Porsche is likely to refine the car’s aerodynamics, aiming to surpass the current model’s 860kg of downforce. The front end of the test vehicle we observed appears unchanged, but the rear features cladding around the wheels, suggesting potential redesigns of the air outlets and diffuser, which may impact the rear swan-neck spoiler.
The facelifted 911 range introduces several updates, including new headlights, rear lights, and a fresh palette of exterior colors. The updated 911 also features a new fully-digital instrument cluster, replacing the analogue rev-counter that has been a staple of the 911’s interior since 1964. It remains to be seen if this new technology will be incorporated into the updated GT3 RS.
Currently priced at £192,600, the GT3 RS is expected to approach £200,000 when the facelifted model is released in 2025, reflecting its continued popularity and anticipated enhancements.
